Troubleshooting your Davey Pump
A machine of any kind
doesn’t stand for a lifetime and you have to consider replacing them after a
particular period. Just like any other equipment present in your home, your
Davey pump might be showing symptoms of having a bad time running. You will see
Davey Pumps Australia-wide, used in homes, offices and other commercial
settings, but the question that arises is how you should check whether your
pump has problems or not.
Here are some of the
common problems that you might have faced or face in future, the reasons behind
and possible solutions:
Motor runs when
switched on but does not pump
If the motor runs and
produces the sound of running but there are no results of water pumping, here
are some issues that might be occurring inside:
·
The pump body and the
suction line isn’t filled with water
·
Air leaks in suction
lines and pipes underwater
·
Closed valves on
suction lines
·
Impeller is blocked
·
Water level or
pressure low or no water at the source
Pump switches on and
off frequently
If
you report that your pump is switching on and off. Here are some potential
reasons and solutions:
- Make
sure to check that the tank air charge is showing a constant of 130 kpa.
- There might
be leaks in the float switch, valves or the taps
- Leaks
might be in the valves/foot valves
The motor doesn't
start when switched on
- Internal
motor fault (blown capacitor)
- Supply
voltage too low
- Power not
connected
- Motor not
free to turn, jammed impeller
- Over-temperature
The pump does
not start
Here
are some potential reasons if your pump isn’t starting at all.
- No
power or electricity. Make sure that the pump is connected properly. Also
check the fuse, wire, breakers or circuit for any damage
- Pressure
controller showing there is no water present in the tank. In such cases,
check if there is enough water present in the tank or not. If yes then
reset the controller.
- A
capacitor is defective. The capacitor in your pump might be having issues,
replace the capacitor in the electric motor.
The pump is
not stopping even when all the taps are shut
In cases where the
pump isn’t shutting down even when there is no tap open, one potential reason
is that there is debris inside the pressure controller. To solve this, you have
to inspect the controller for any foreign matter. Also, there might be leaks in
the plumbing. So, you have to fix the leaks to solve the issue.
No water from the pump
at all
- The
pump might not be primed. Make sure that the suction line and the pump
body is filled before starting
- A
suction-line might be leaking. So, check if there are any leaks in the
suction, especially at the joints.
- Blockages in
discharge or pump body. To avoid or solve, disconnect the pump from the
main power outlet and check the discharge or pump housing for stimulus
matter
- Closed
valve, make sure that all the valves of pump, tank and outlets are checked
properly.
- Insufficient
water in the tank to pump. First, make sure that there is enough water in
the tank and after that reset or restart the pump with the help of a
controller.
- The pump
isn’t producing the required pressure. Check and clean the pump to avoid
such an issue
- Taps
or in-line filters are blocked. Filters need cleaning if such an issue
occurs.
